Or not to go…

- it’s usually more expensive than regular college
- there’s no room for it in your academic schedule

Dani, UC Berkeley: “Honestly, I travel so much as it is, that going away really doesn’t have the same glamour for me as it does for others.”

Those were the only reasons I heard against going, but ultimately, if you’re interested in immersing yourself in a new culture, and you’re in the mood for an adventure, then going abroad may be just what you need to complete your college years. And there may be things about your own school that you can’t appreciate until seen from the other side of the ocean.

But universities don't cost anything in Europe. Why would you pay Vassar's tuition then go to Europe? Because Vassar will send other Americans with you? You are paying $40,000 to have a buddy? The two of you, together are paying $80,000 for Vassar to make you be friends?
