Rachel Green
When we first meet Rachel, she has just left her fiancé, Barry, at the alter. She rushes in to Central Perk (the coffeehouse where everyone hangs out) where she meets up with high school friend Monica, and is introduced to the rest of the gang. A spoiled girl from Long Island, she at first seems a little self absorbed and snobby, but the group quickly embraces her. She learns how to survive on her own without having her father pay for her credit cards.
After working at Central Perk for two years, she finds her true calling in fashion, and now has a cushy job at Ralph Lauren. Rachel is addicted to shopping and loves material things, but she also knows that her friends come first. She would do anything for her friends, making her a sweet, loyal and fun person to hang out with. She is also very sensitive, and cries all the time, which has become a running joke on the show.
Rachel can’t seem to find a boyfriend, until she starts dating best friend Ross. After a year, she gets a new job, which eventually comes between them and splits them up. However, since their breakup, she has not been able to truly get over Ross, which affects her relationships with other men.
