Ross Geller
Ross, Monica’s older brother, is the quintessential nerd. When the show first started, he was the endearing dork, but now he’s just a nerd. He has a PhD in paleontology, and used to work in a museum, but now teaches at NYU. His apartment is decorated with dinosaur bones, which just serve as things for Chandler to make fun of.
Ross is probably the worst when it comes to relationships. Even though he is the same age as the rest of the gang, he’s already been divorced three times and has a six-year-old son. However, becoming a father was probably his greatest triumph, and he loves spending time with his son, Ben, more than anything in the world.
We also find out in some hilarious flashbacks that not only was Ross an even bigger nerd in high school, but that he was just as much in love with Rachel then as he is when the show starts. So when Rachel enters his life again, they become fast friends. He too has still not fully recovered from his breakup with her.
