Cordelia Chase
Cordelia Chase was born and raised in Sunnydale, and is the stereotypical popular girl – cheerleader, self-centered, self-absorbed, and always speaks her mind. When Buffy first arrived in Sunnydale, Cordelia tried to befriend her, until Buffy accidentally tried to stake her, and began to hang out with "losers" Willow and Xander. While the dislike was mutual, they began to hang out after Cordelia began being stalked by an invisible girl and needed Buffy’s help. After learning that Buffy was the Slayer, she (somewhat reluctantly) became part of the Scooby gang, helping them whenever necessary, although insults were still constantly exchanged. She also became involved with Xander. When her popular friends found out, they told her to break up with him, but she decided that she was cooler than all of them, could date whomever she wanted, and told them off. While she became emotionally involved with Xander, he betrayed her by kissing Willow, and she couldn’t forgive him. They did eventually call a truce. Cordelia also had family difficulties when her father was caught for tax evasion, and her family became broke. After graduation, Cordelia headed to Los Angeles to pursue her dream to become an actress, however, she seems to have very little talent (although she herself is oblivious to this fact, Angel and Wesley are not), and so she works for Angel to pay her bills while she tries to “make it” as an actress. Cordelia also lives in an apartment with a poltergeist/ghost named Dennis.
