“Rising”
It actually makes sense! Max gave Logan a transfusion way back and that explains why his spinal injury could be healing itself; it's from her revved up Manticore blood. In this really romantic scene (it is Valentine's Day soon), Max gives Logan a transfusion directly from her arm to his. If only we could that in real life. It really makes you want to go out and donate blood.
In sharp contrast to the sentimental scene, a gang of super-human fighting machines are hunting Max for her genetic code. The men, who are ex-death row prisoners, have inserted a nail-like implant into themselves that merges with their brain and gives them super-strength and allows them to feel no pain.
Meanwhile, Logan sits alone staring at his toes with a goofy grin as he wiggles them. But he gets a little too ambitious and ends up face down on his table, helpless until his bodyguard/aide helps him up. Logan angrily sulks, ignoring Max's call to join the gang at the bar.
Unfortunately, the bad guys find Max at the bar and she only barely makes it away. She does kill one of the guys in a gruesome scene where he's impaled on a metal stick. Oddly, his dying words are “help us live.” Max and Logan enlist the help of some underground, super-smart, guy who is completely paralyzed and spends his time researching conspiracies – like the Manticore project. This new source has the implant removed from the dead body and explains that the implant kills the body within six months, which is probably why they're hunting for Max: to use her regenerative DNA/blood.
Before Max and Logan can figure out what to do, the bad guys take Original Cindy hostage and force her to lure Max into a trap. Original Cindy thinks quickly and warns Max by mentioning her new hot guy date, Carlito – too bad Original Cindy is a lesbian. Max, desperate to help her friend, inserts the nail-like implant into her neck even though she knows it might kill her. But it's the only way she can fight three men with the implant and win.
